You know how we have those hand operated, gaudy, annoying, oddly shaped wine bottle openers? I just hate how some of them either destroy the cork because you went in crooked, or they take up so much space when you store it.
I was so excited to try this electric wine bottle opener! This stainless steel one by Secura is beautifully designed. It not only looks really nice and expensive, it actually matches my stainless steel appliances in my kitchen so it doesn't look odd on my counters.
It's so easy to use that I almost feel lazy using it! You just put it charging on the charging stand for at least 8 hours before the first use, then just set it on the top of your bottle and press the down button. The needle descends and takes the cork with it! Press the up button to release the cork. It's that simple.
I absolutely love being able to watch it all happen through the clear bottom portion. It even lights up and looks all fancy. It is definitely one of my favorite wine bottle openers. Even the little foil cutter that is included works exceptionally well. The design is beautiful and looks great when I take it out when we have company over.
There are a couple of things I think that can be improved on though:
- For one, the stand for the foil cutter does not allow the cutter to stay sturdy onto it.
- Also, the slot where the opener goes is a bit wobbly. It does not feel secured when moving the whole dock from place to place. It makes me feel like if I make the wrong move, it will fall and break.
- Lastly, when using with the really dry like corks, it breaks them apart pretty easily when trying to extract the cork from the bottle. Luckily, nothing got into my bottle.
Overall, this is a great product that I believe any wine lover would enjoy in their wine tool collection. I even think the price is just right for this product.
